The name is actually changed it is now the country buffet located just to the left of the North Carolina tag office. Like so many of those unknown gems this location has amazing country food in a buffet form along with the regular menu. They have hands-down the best fried chicken I've ever had always tender and juicy and the sides always flavorful. They have quite a few selections on their salad bar and their buffet lunch you can get out for less than $9 including your drink. They are also open for breakfast early in the morning and their Sunday breakfast is wonderful! It's clean but a little rundown looking in places which is why only got four stars for me but as far as the food it's a winner

The name is actually restaurant 39 now.
I came in with a group of 10 for Mother's Day and specifically asked the hostess for vegetarian options. Now I understand this is not common in this small town but some of us don't want to put the flesh of animals in our bodies. I was offered a salad, as that is what I'm usually offered as the only vegetarian option. Why the squash casserole, cabbage casserole, green bean casserole, had to have meat in them is beyond me but they did (or at least I was advised they did). I got my salad, dissected it, but I missed one piece of ham that was in there. While eating I felt the flesh of a pig in my mouth and instantly spit it in a napkin and went to the restroom and vomited. The cashier (Lilly) did not even offer me to leave a tip (yes I still paid even though my order was a waste) I advised it was not the waitresses fault and I'd like to leave her a tip. Lilly then stated that the waitress didn't specify no ham, only no bacon. It's all a pig. No meat at all. No animals in my body. I then was asking the waitress about it and telling her and got rudely asked again by Lilly "is there a problem" I said yes I'd like to leave my waitress a tip on my card and you didn't even give me the opportunity. She then asked the people I was with (bc she knew them) to leave... not me but the people I was with?? The manager says to me "we can take this outside and discuss it" like umm ok. I'm not being loud I'm simply saying SOMEONE at your establishment messed up and there is a dead animal on my plate. I still paid, I left my waitress a $5 tip and all in the end was told they made an exception for me by making me a salad as that wasn't even on their menu today. I will NEVER be back. People often ask me how I'm a vegetarian, it's pretty easy actually. I just avoid places like Restaurant 39.
